Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are you still doing that thing with the weather?
Yes.
2. What do you do with all the jars?

When I receive a jar in the post I usually ignore it for a bit and go straight for the record slip: I want to know where it’s traveled to and who it traveled with.

Often people recruit friends and relatives to make collections so I have never met the persons who sent the jar. I then have to go back to the master list and figure out the links in the chain. [At this stage it is also really important to make sure the number on the jar and the number on the record slip match up!]

The lids of each jar are sealed with wax, and then all the documentary evidence is photographed/scanned ready for entry onto the website.

3. Yes, but what do you do with all the jars after that?
Well, I have lots of old shoeboxes in my room…
4. Is it art?
Yes. No. Sociology?
